Every year in Kansas City over 200 families receive the news that their child has cancer. With that diagnosis, the fight begins. Long stays in the hospital. Frequency visits to the Oncology Clinic. Scans. Treatments. The family puts their life on hold to save their child. Parents are forced to make some tough decisions. Miss a treatment leaving their child alone in the hospital or miss work and lose income. Unfortunately, none of us have unlimited paid time off. So throughour the child's treatment, two income families become one income families or even more dire. Bills at home continue to come.
That's where Supporting Kids Foundation (SKF) comes in. An all-volunteer, Kansas City-based charity that believes a parent's place is with their child. Through our fundraising, we are able to provide assistance for these families and offset household bills like housing, utilities, transportation, food, and more. Through our four main events and amazing local business partnerships, we have helped over 1000 families with over $5.1M in assistance since 2009. None of that is possible without the support of the broader community.
